Kemi Badenoch MP is joining local charities in thanking local volunteers for their hard work supporting people and communities across the Saffron Walden constituency as part of Volunteers’ Week 2021. Volunteers’ Week is an annual celebration – now in its 37th year – of the contribution and dedication of millions of volunteers who give up their time in the service of others.
To celebrate the week, Mrs Badenoch met virtually with a number of volunteers from Volunteer Uttlesford and the Uttlesford Council of Voluntary Services (CVSU). Volunteer Uttlesford and Uttlesford CVSU have been fundamental to the local response to the crisis over the last year.
Volunteers’ Week is about recognising all of those who have delivered vital work as volunteers over the past 12 months, particularly the huge number of first-time volunteers in communities across the constituency, but also all those who usually volunteer but have not been able to because of the pandemic.
Commenting, Mrs Badenoch said:
“This crisis has highlighted how important community is to each and everyone of us. The volunteers across our constituency have made an incredible impact over the past year and many residents have written to me to express how grateful they are to those who have supported them.
“It was great to speak to volunteers that have been working across Uttlesford, to thank them, hear about the challenges they faced and more about their contribution to our response effort.
“I would like to thank each and every resident who has given or gives up their time for our communities, particularly the most vulnerable. Without your efforts we would not have been able to get through the last year.”
