As part of my regular meetings with headteachers in the constituency, I spoke with the Headteacher of Helena Romanes School in Dunmow to find out how teachers and pupils have found their return back to school and what measures have been put in place to keep them safe.
I was pleased to hear that generally the experience has been positive for Helena Romanes and that pupils have adapted quickly to the new routines.
Other matters discussed were the proposed ‘learning village’ in Dunmow, a-level results and the progress made since Helena Romanes Ofsted rating last year.
One concern that was raised during the call was regarding testing locally and I have made the relevant enquiries to ensure this and concerns raised by residents across the constituency are being heard by executives at the Department of Health and Social Care.
I am in close correspondence with our regional testing coordinator and will continue to push for further capacity to ensure residents that need a test for COVID-19 can access one.
