Following their trip to Parliament, I was at Joyce Frankland Academy in my home village of Newport to speak to Year 10 and a large cohort of visiting ERASMUS scheme participants from across Europe. This was an employment seminar for students and teachers who want to live, study and work in the UK. I was glad to have the opportunity to speak about my experiences as a first generation immigrant, and about Britain being an open and outward looking country. There were many questions around Brexit, and I was glad to reassure them that post-Brexit we want to continue to have strong relationships with EU and other ERASMUS countries.
