Continuing my tour of local schools to find out how I can best help children's education and teachers, I visited Great Sampford Primary. George Athanasiou is a fantastic headteacher who has done so much to modernise the school, from a digital citizen initiative making pupils aware of online safeguards; the Kingfisher Award recognising those who consistently achieve good results & behaviour; to bringing in local produce for fresh school meals, ably assisted by chefs Louise and Claire! One of my personal highlights was getting to meet Christine Hale, whom I had previously written to congratulate on winning the Essex Teaching Assistant award. She was hard at work with lessons and also the Student Leadership Council and their admirable charity work. This is a great school in a picturesque English village we are lucky to have!
