The English Cream Tea Company in White Roding is quintessentially British. Starting with a dream and an idea, Jane and Roger Malyon have developed a business to be proud of. While I was very grateful to have sampled some of the tasty treats they had on offer, it was really valuable getting an insight into the challenges they’ve faced getting their business off the ground and being employers - in particular, hearing about areas where the State has helped, with importing and exporting for example, and in some cases hindered.
Leaving the European Union will provide some opportunities for small businesses like The English Cream Tea Company. I will be intensely scrutinising the EU Withdrawal Bill in September to ensure the legislation minimises the disruption of day-to-day activities for companies like this.
As and when possible I try and visit small businesses around the constituency to find out about issues they're facing, and what the Government can do to help. If you’re a local business and have particular concerns that you would like to discuss, please contact me on [email protected]
