Saffron Walden constituency MP Kemi Badenoch has welcomed nearly £10,000 investment from the Conservative Government to transform sports facilities in Uttlesford to get more people active and nurture future sporting talent.
Two local organisations alongside 1,700 new and improved multi-sports grassroots facilities from across the UK are benefiting from £68 million from the Government – improving access to high-quality facilities.
Projects support a range of facility types, from the creation or upgrade of changing rooms, grass pitches and 3G football turf pitches and pavilions, to floodlights, fencing and improved disabled access.
This funding comes from the latest allocations of a £300 million UK wide capital investment in grassroots facilities to deliver upgrades, improvements, and new pitches – making more high-quality facilities available for people to play football, hockey and other grassroots sports.
Commenting, Mrs Badenoch said:
“It is great that local organisations here in Uttlesford are to benefit from this central Government funding.
“Hatfield Broad Oak Youth Football Club will now be able to purchase new goalposts and Felsted Parish Council have secured a grant to refurbish the changing rooms and clubhouse at Felsted Playing Fields.
“I know just how important this type of funding is to our local grassroots clubs. They aren’t just sports teams; they are the community hubs essential for nurturing future sporting talent and encouraging local people to get active.”
