Kemi Badenoch, the MP for Saffron Walden, has praised Essex County Council’s decision to keep libraries open across the county.
Responding to the announcement, Mrs Badenoch said: "I have had many conversations with Cllr Susan Barker, the Cabinet member responsible for libraries, about how they are an asset to our communities and the positive impact they have on the lives of local residents.
“The decision to keep them all open will be welcomed across our constituency and by my Essex MP colleagues who I have been campaigning hard on this issue with. This is particularly good news for all the residents in Thaxted, Stansted and Writtle where I have been regularly engaging about the review.
“The consultation has been a positive process and has greatly assisted Essex’s final strategy by focusing on investment and plans to work with local groups to set-up community-run libraries.
“Thank you to Cllr Barker for seeking views and reaching such a constructive conclusion."
