Kemi Badenoch MP has welcomed extra funding from the Conservative Government, providing schools across the Saffron Walden constituency, which includes North of Chelmsford and the Uttlesford district, with over £2.6 million in extra funding.
This is part of an additional £2 billion this year and next for primary schools and secondary schools in England.
The Institute for Fiscal Studies has highlighted this uplift will mean 2024–25 will be the highest spending year in history for schools. In total the school’s budget will be £58.8 billion in 2024-25 – meaning the Government is putting more into schools than ever before. It also means school funding is set to rise faster than forecast inflation in both 2023–24 and 2024–25.
Commenting, Mrs Badenoch said:
“Increasing school funding is one of my key priorities, which is why I am pleased to see this Government delivering the highest real terms spending on our local schools.
“I regularly speak with Headteachers and teachers across Chelmsford and Uttlesford to better understand the challenges they face and what their pupils need.
“This investment will directly benefit every school across our constituency, and I will continue to work with them to ensure young people have the support they need to fulfil their potential.”
