An informative visit to Stoking Pelham substation recently which sits on the border of our constituency.
The substations plays a key part in transmitting electricity across our constituency and the country by converting it into different voltages. During the visit I spoke to Carl Trowell, President of UK strategic infrastructure at National Grid and his team about the national increase in demand for energy and the infrastructure we need to support this.
This is closely linked to National Grid’s Norwich to Tilbury pylon proposals. I reiterated mine and residents concerns for the proposals and the consultations thus far.
As residents will be aware, the National Grid Electricity Operator (a separate organisation to National Grid) announced a review into electricity network infrastructure in East Anglia earlier this year following pressure from neighbouring MPs and I.
This review will independently assess the different ways the electricity being generated can be transported, once is has landed, to where it is needed.
It is vital residents engage with this review and once I have further details, I will be sharing it via my monthly e-newsletter which you can sign up to here: www.kemibadenoch.org.uk
