As Patron and the local MP, I was pleased to join the CVS Uttlesford - for the Community and Voluntary Sector virtual AGM this year. Whilst we had hoped to have the AGM in person like previous years, unfortunately like so many other events this year, it had to be done virtually due to the restrictions.
The CVSU, alongside Volunteer Uttlesford and Uttlesford District Council were the foundations to our community response hub in Uttlesford, which has been vital to supporting local residents, especially those who are vulnerable since the beginning of the crisis.
During my contribution at the beginning of the AGM I expressed my gratitude to CVSU, Volunteer Uttlesford and UDC for coming together so quickly to establish our local response and to thank every volunteer who has given their time to help those most in need.
One positive that has come from this crisis is that organisations like the CVSU now know our local communities much better and this will ensure they can provide more targeted services to those who need them.
