Kemi Badenoch, MP for the Saffron Walden constituency recently boarded Buffy Bus, a local pre-school play bus that has been supporting families throughout Uttlesford for nearly 30 years.
The converted double-decker, complete with toys and learning facilities and staffed by professional Early Years Workers, tours fifteen different communities in the district, and does not charge parents for the service, instead asking for donations.
Mrs Badenoch and Essex County and Uttlesford District councillor Sue Barker joined Project Manager Rosie Juhl in Dunmow to hear more about the valued impact the pre-school has and shared the difficulties that the charity is facing.
Commenting, Mrs Badenoch said:
“Thank you to Rosie Juhl for having me on the Buffy Bus again to hear about the progress the service has made since my last visit in 2018.
“Buffy Bus is a great asset to our communities, providing a mobile space for children to play, particularly welcomed by parents in more rural areas.
“I’ve been pleased to support its success and growth over the years, most recently through Uttlesford District Council’s bid for the government’s Shared Prosperity Fund, which saw Buffy Bus awarded £5,000.”
Commenting, Project Manager Rosie Juhl said:
“We were very happy to welcome Kemi to Buffy Playbus, to see the unique service that our organisation offers. We showed her the wonderful toys, equipment and resources that we have on-board the bus and explained how families can come together within their own communities to learn new skills, make new friends and have fun.
“Kemi was interested to hear about the sources of the funding that keep Buffy's wheels turning and how we are always seeking ways to increase and develop our amazing service. We value the opportunity that her visit gave us to highlight our service to the community.”
