With today being World Mental Health Day, I am proud to announce that I will now be Mind in West Essex’s newest ambassador, supporting all the work that they do in helping those struggling with their mental health in Essex.
With 1 in 4 people in the UK experiencing a mental health problem each year, it’s important we continue to raise awareness and tackle the stigma around mental health, especially with young people.
I am glad that the Government is making £1.4 billion available in order to transform services for children and young people and enable an additional 70,000 children and young people a year to receive access to specialist mental health service by 2020/2021, but we need to continue to do more.
I am looking forward to working with the Mind in West Essex team to support these efforts.
