The MP for Saffron Walden, Kemi Badenoch, visited Farleigh Hospice in Broomfield where she met Chief Executive Alison Stevens and Local Hospice Lottery's CEO Gary Hawkes. They discussed the services that the hospice provides for patients and the importance of lottery funding.
Mrs Badenoch said: “Alison showed me around the facilities, including the educational centre and the Inpatient Care Unit. I was particularly moved by the work the hospice does with young children who have lost their parents.
“We had a constructive discussion about NHS pensions, NHS employer pay rises and the importance of the Local Hospice Lottery.
“Farleigh Hospice needs to raise millions of pounds every year to keep their services running and to continue their various support for patients. The lottery has become a vital source of income.
“Through paying as little as £1 per week to enter a weekly draw, lotteries provide an easy and affordable way for people to support what is such an important local cause. It is good fun as well.
