Ahead of Small Business Saturday, Saffron Walden constituency MP, Kemi Badenoch, joined business owners in Writtle to hear more about the importance of shopping local and supporting small businesses.
Small and medium businesses make up 99.9 per cent of the 5.6 million businesses in the UK – they employ almost 17 million people and contribute £2.4 trillion to the economy.
Which is why this Conservative Government is helping small businesses succeed by cutting their businesses rates, cutting the cost of employing staff and keeping corporation tax low. The Government is also freeing up billions of pounds of Start Up Loans so new businesses are created every day.
Mrs Badenoch visited Sonia@48 a boutique shop in Writtle just off the green, Hanging Garden's Garden Centre just outside the village and the Rose and Crown pub.
Commenting Mrs Badenoch said:
“It was a pleasure to speak to small business owners in Writtle ahead of Small Business Saturday.
“Every year I focus on a different area in the constituency, which has so many fantastic small businesses.
“They are the backbone of our high streets and communities, and it is vital we support them – particularly over the festive period.”
